Media's Role and Function in a Democratic Society

Given the available media that we now have in the world, what are its roles and functions in
  a democratic society?

                       -Media has played a very important role in shaping human minds. It makes us aware of various social, political and economical activities happening around the world. It is also a link between the government and the people because all the policies and activities of government are conveyed through media. Here in the Philippines, media are doing a special coverage (debate of presidential and vice-presidential candidates) during elections which can help Filipinos in electing the right person to power. This only means that media has a big influence on us in our everyday lives.

In what way does media affect your life? (personal, professional, academic, social, others)?

                      -Media affects my life personally in a way that whenever I see articles that caught my attention in facebook and twitter I became affected. Professionally, as a student, it helps me to get information on what’s happening in my school. Academically, media helped me a lot in my studies because this is where I get information related to my homework and to gain knowledge. And lastly, it affects my social life because this is where I can communicate easily with with my friends in school and relatives in other countries which helped me in interacting with people.
